BMFA F3F and 60" pylon racing League 3, 2005

The 60" Pylon Race held on Saturday saw some interesting conditions, (report by Jon Edison below) but unfortunately the rain kept the F3F competition from completing. We did get one round in though (Scores below) but we didnt get any photos worth publishing. Next HOH comp, the reserve round in October!

60" Pylon racing

After early rain, the day quickly progressed to give blue sky and a steady cold north wind. Racing started before midday, and with 13 pilots, plenty of racing ensued.
Flying conditions were variable, making the furthest turn a little tricky to negotiate ( well that's my excuse! ) , although it was clear that a number of pilots had it mastered as the day went on.
Six rounds were flown before the knockout rounds started. 10 lap quarter finals, followed by 15 lap semis and a 20 lap final.
The final proved to a cracker, but the unfortunate demise of Alex and Paul Wright left John Bennett and Mike Evans to battle it out. Mike led for nineteen laps, but an excellent last turn by John saw him beat Mike by the closest finishes seen for a long time.
